Brand new performative and literary collaborations, made for the night. The Camarade is a dynamic event, asking pairs of poets, writers, artists and other creative practises to come together and explore the potential of collective innovation and playful experiment. Our partner for this event, The European Poetry Festival, celebrates performance and our shared continental literary tradition of experimentation. It is the biggest consistent celebration of European poets ever to take place in the UK and comes to Kingston once again to pair visiting or locally based poets with students or staff of Kingston University. Poets in pairs presented brand new live works made for the night.

Calliope Michail and David Spittle / Fabian Faltin and Steven J Fowler / Stathis Dimitriadis and Regina Avendano / Alban Low and Natalie Low / Julia Rose Lewis and Harry Man / Agnese Graudina and Bella Weerasinghe / Petra Pálkovácsová and Sinnead Singson

In addition the evening will be opened with two solo readings to mark the launch of new publications :

  • Chris McCabe’s Dreamt by Ghosts is an experimental journal recounting dreams, coincidences, and walks into urban space. An interdisciplinary work including visual poems and essays on culture, from the films of Fassbinder to the books of Edgar Allan Poe. 'Dreamt by Ghosts leads you toward more and more... In no way can I sum up how remarkable is this ghostly manuscript' (Mary Ann Caws). https://tenementpress.com/Dreamt-by-Ghosts

  • Noriaki by Endre Ruset, translated by Harry Man, is a mesmerizing poetry collection that captures the daring spirit of ski jumping through a series of concise, haiku-like poems. Drawing on the rich tradition of Japanese and Norwegian poetry, Ruset's work pays tribute to the legendary ski jumper Noriaki Kasai, whose extraordinary career and resilience are depicted with both reverence and lyrical precision. This book isn't just for sports enthusiasts but for anyone who appreciates the intersection of athleticism and art, offering readers an exhilarating experience that mirrors the thrill and beauty of Kasai’s jumps. https://www.brokensleepbooks.com/product-page/endre-ruset-translated-by-harry-man-noriaki
